Scrap Play

We needed a distraction fast. So I grabed three of the closest items near me sat my over sugared 2 year old down and made art. We used colored on construction paper, fuzzy craft balls, and glue.

Cost 0, Mom minutes 15, recycle points (score used pre color sheets).

All in all a worth it project. A masterpiece no but we had fun!

Mother's Day Gardening

This past Mother's Day the girls and I decided to plant. I just ran a plant fundraiser at work; it was surprisingly hard, as I didn't have the first clue about plants. But as I emerged myself in something new I was tempted and bought some things to plant with my girls on Mother's Day. it was a lot of fun and dad even got involved in this project. We planted cherry tomatoes in buckets we already owned and a discarded formula container (recycle points) and we used the activity table that has been out of use to plant our flowers. I will be sure to touch back on our progress as Spring and Summer move along. Check out the fun we had:

Recycled Ticket Project

This project came to mind after spending a large some of cash on a raffle. I had tons of tickets that didn't win and felt like I should do something with them. My mother suggested letting my 2-year-old play with them and she does. She even sneaks them in her sister’s pocket. Well one day just out of the blue (thank goodness it was before I tossed them) I had thought Hey lets color the backs. This was a great idea!! It is 100% recycled, I used crayons, markers and pens on hand, and My 2 year old loved coloring something new and tiny.  An A+ for mommy thinking on the go!

Sassy Foam Letters

Product Review:

I just love bath toys!! These Sassy Foam Letters are awesome! My 7 month old loves splashes and grabbing at them and my 2 year old loved calling out the letters and numbers. They stick to the sides well and come off with a breeze. The whole kit fits into one large freezer bag so it is an awesome way to travel with bath toys. These letters are a lot of fun and worth the $10.00. A Rainy Day thumbs up and A+.

Funky Paint Brushes

Product Review:

These were pretty cool brushes. They are made for children’s paint and result in amazing texture. I am sorry I don’t know the name brand (this project was done with daddy and he did not save the wrapper) but I think they were from the dollar store or Michael’s. They are standard quality but look different so my 2 year old loved it! Check out what we did. This was a no cost project as the brushes were a gift and the paper and paint I had on hand!

Play-Doh

Product Review:

Wow I forgot how cool this stuff is!!!

My 2 year old got a ton for her birthday and she loves it. The activities are endless and I love that it is an open play product.  She has all kinds of neat tools and gadgets but nothing beats rolling it up like a snake or a ball. With a 2 year old it can get messy but it is not the end of the world. I wash the plastic pieces with very warm water and the caked on stuff comes right off. The colors mix together and get ugly after continued use and dried play-doh in carpet is not that easy to get up...I suggest cleaning up at the end of every use. I found the recipe online to make homemade play-doh, be sure to visit next week to see how it comes out.
